My Story to Share

I vowed to God and myself that I'd share my journey when I was healed from Hyperemesis. I am happy to report that I was discharged yesterday from home healthcare. I had no clue as to how I'd help others deal with EXTREME nausea and vomiting but maybe this is a start. Be blessed!..
I found out that I was pregnant very early on. I was told that my hcg levels were rising at a very rapid rate. I was scheduled for an ultrasound two weeks later to measure the pregnancy and as soon as the Dr. placed the wand "in" the nurse said "WHOA!" Well, we found out that the comment was because there were two babies! I was in a state of euphoria.
Trying to wrap our minds around this news, it seemed as if nausea and vomiting set in at 6 weeks like clockwork. As a result, I became extremely dehydrated and vomited more than 10 times a day! My new Dr. immediately prescribed home healthcare nurses to visit me 3 times a week and I had an IV placed in my arm as well as a Zofran pump attached to my thigh. I will admit that it helped but the constant burning of the drug entering my thigh and the knotting, black and blue bruising was more than enough! I constantly prayed and asked God for healing because realistically I wasn't sure how long it was going to last but I had hope that it would end soon. Oh yeah, no appetite whatsoever!
To make matters worse, I threw up blood at 9 weeks and was admitted into the hospital for a Mallory-Weiss tear. All in all it has been rough but the support of my husband, family, and friends has made it easier to deal with.
Today, I am 16 weeks pregnant and I am virtually nausea free. I thank God every chance that I get because I know that it was because of Him and surrounding me with supportive, caring, and knowledgeable people that helped me get through this rough patch. I am excited at what the future holds and I pray that someone is encouraged by my story and know that the sacrifices that you are making will not go unnoticed and YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!
