My husband and I have a 21 month old daughter and 5 month old twin girls.
I found out we were having twins when I went to the ER with bleeding at 13 weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound and a little while later the nurse came in and told me I was having twins. I nearly fell off the bed.
The pregnancy progressed ok until my water broke at 33 weeks pregnant. I went to the hospital and they tried to stop the labor but were unsuccessful. The nurse that I had kept thinking that I wasn't having contractions but I was in very bad pain. I had no clue why she kept putting a stethoscope to my stomach.
A few minutes later the doctor came in and said I was dilated to 9 cm. They rushed me back for a c-section and a few minutes later my twin girls were born weighing 3lbs 8 ozs and 3lbs 12 ozs, breathing on their own thanks to all the steroid shots I had had previously.
The girls were in the NICU for 17 days just to gain weight and came home 3 days after Christmas.
Now life is very chaotic and busy, chasing a busy body toddler and carrying for the babies. We have never had any jealousy problems from our oldest daughter, Hannah. She loves them dearly. Our twins are right on track as far as milestones. So far they have both rolled over and are as happy as can be. They are just small, weighing only a little over twelve pounds.
Good luck to everyone having twins . They truly are a blessing; as are all kids.
